Healing Spirits hosts a dynamic group of instructors.  Our instructors are all experienced healing arts practitioners.  Many are masters in their area of specialty and are skilled in relaying their wisdom to others.  Below is a list of some of this year’s instructors, along with comments from students who have learned from them.

Helen Grigg, CMT

Helen has been the owner and director of Healing Spirits since 1999. She graduated from the Boulder School of Massage Therapy in 1982. Since then she has continued to study various aspects of the healing arts. She has maintained a successful full-time practice in the Denver-Boulder area since 1982. The focus of Helen’s practice has been on stress reduction and injury rehabilitation, as well as prenatal and post-partum massage. She has also developed a modified form of a physical therapy technique called Strain/Counter-strain. Helen has a strong affinity for teaching and mentoring; she has been part of the faculty at Healing Spirits since its inception.

“Helen is the foundation of Healing Spirits.  Her dedication to the school and to the trade is so evident and heartfelt.  She honors each person as an individual and creates a sacred space for healing.”

Courtney graduated from Boulder College of Massage Therapy in 2007.  She moved to Colorado because of her love for the mountains and graduated from Colorado State University in 2000 with a BA in Liberal Arts. She is excited to be blending her two passions: massage and teaching. She loves mentoring and spending one-on-one time with students as they develop their own personal style. She enthusiastically makes lab time an even more in depth learning opportunity and provides invaluable feedback for the students.  Courtney is the instructor for Physiology & Pathology.

In addition to her private practice, she teaches Shiatsu for HeartMind Bodywork, a nationally-certified program that she helped to build as a member of the Board of Directors. And she is proud to be on the faculty of her alma mater Healing Spirits, teaching Qigong, Movement, and parts of Foundation Massage.

I have enjoyed my time at Healing Spirits so much.  The supportive and nurturing environment allowed me to make a smooth transition from a 16-year career in finance to one in the healing arts.  The flexibility of the schedule allowed me to continue contract work and do bodywork and homework when my schedule allowed.  I would highly recommend this program for any self-motivated individual seeking to make a mid-life career change.

-Michele Slivkin

I have found much more than an education in my experience. Healing Spirits offers an incredible journey of finding oneself all the while gaining an amazing education.  The instructors are giving more than just an education, they give so much of themselves and share their knowledge in a beautiful way - the willingness to share with the students such precious gifts has given me more than I could have asked for or ever expected.  I am forever grateful to all the instructors and TA's that have helped to shape my future as a knowledgeable Massage Therapist with many tools in my bag!  The program also offers great flexibility in all aspects - it truly is the best choice I've ever made.

-Jasmine DeLeon

"Healing Spirits outstands itself by being a small school. What it does not have in size, it has in heart space, professionalism, and variety of learning opportunities. You will be able to laugh, cry, learn, and explore here. You might have to give a piece of your self but you will get a much bigger piece in return that will stick with you forever."

-Pernille Scherer

"Healing Spirits is a very warm, educational environment that was felt immediately by me. This has allowed me to open up and trust this tight knit group of wonderful beings in order to ask questions in a comfortable setting which has also enabled me to further my own spiritual healing."

-Alex Kendall

"This program has been a sacred experience. It has transformed me from the inside out.

It has multiplied my understanding of what true compassionate, healing, loving light is,

through the touch of hands on skin, and the intentions in the heart."
